A Perth business with one 1,100-litre general waste bin collected weekly should expect to pay roughly $100 to $195 a month plus GST once the rate is negotiated, a 240-litre bin about $40 to $65, and a 3 m³ front-lift bin $180 to $330. Perth is the cheapest mainland capital to send waste to landfill because the Western Australian levy is $90 a tonne in 2026-27, half the NSW and Victorian metropolitan rates. It puts about $34 a month into a weekly 1,100-litre bin. The levy applies only to waste landfilled in, or collected from, the Perth metropolitan region.
What Perth businesses pay in 2026
No Perth provider publishes a city price list. Waster's per-collection ranges are national and its Perth page carries no figures; Bin Hire Australia's Perth page lists 29 suburbs and no prices. Monthly figures assume 4.33 collections a month. Perth's geography matters more than in the eastern capitals: a bin in Welshpool, Osborne Park, Malaga or Canning Vale sits on a dense industrial route, while Rockingham, Wanneroo and the hills pay for the drive.
The WA levy and where it stops
Western Australia's levy is set by a published five-year schedule. For 2026-27 it is $90 a tonne, or $136 per cubic metre where waste is measured by volume, up from $88 and $133 in 2025-26. Unlike the eastern states it is not split into categories: one rate applies. Its scope is the important part: the levy applies to waste received at landfills in the metropolitan region, and to waste collected in the metropolitan region and taken to a landfill outside it. Waste generated and landfilled outside the metropolitan region is not levied.
Using Waster's published weight allowances (60 kg per cubic metre for offices and non-food retail, 80 kg for health, education and non-food manufacturing, 100 kg for hospitality, 120 kg for food manufacturing and construction), the levy inside a Perth bin at 80 kg per cubic metre is:

Council-run commercial bins in Perth
Several Perth councils run their own commercial waste services, which is unusual among the capitals. The City of Stirling offers general waste, commingled recycling and cardboard bins to businesses in its area, with a choice of collection days Monday to Friday, fees set for twelve months, no hidden costs and no lock-in contract, plus a free consultation to size the service. The City of Perth charges a separate fee for rubbish collection under its schedule of fees and charges. A council service is worth pricing for a single small bin; for multiple streams or front-lift volumes a negotiated private rate usually wins, and the council's fixed twelve-month price is a useful benchmark to negotiate against.
What moves a Perth rate
- Distance to the tip. Perth's landfills and transfer stations are spread across a long metropolitan strip, so route density decides more of the price than in Melbourne or Sydney.
- Weight. Excess weight is charged per kilogram once you pass the allowance ($0.42 per kg on Waster's published terms outside NSW).
- Recycling split. Cardboard and commingled streams avoid the levy and cost less per lift; the saving is smaller than in the east because the levy is smaller, but the lower lift rate still holds.
- Add-on lines. Rental, environmental and fuel surcharges are the fastest-growing part of a Perth invoice and the easiest to negotiate away.
- Term. Rollover clauses and annual rise formulas cost more over three years than the headline lift rate.
