Adelaide's tip fees are set facility by facility rather than by one metropolitan operator. The Adelaide Hills Recycling Centre at Woodside charges commercial customers $221 per tonne plus GST for general waste and $150 per tonne plus GST for clean green waste, with domestic mixed loads priced by vehicle from $30 to $330. The Adelaide Hills Region Waste Management Authority's Heathfield centre lists a car boot of waste at $40.50 and a level 6×4 trailer at $102 (July 2025 schedule, domestic only). In the south, SRWRA at Seaford Heights lists a car boot at $63, a heaped 6×4 trailer at $190 and mixed general waste at $280 per tonne (2024-25 list). The South Australian solid waste levy sits underneath all of them and is set annually by the SA EPA.

Heathfield (32 Scott Creek Road, Scott Creek; Mon–Fri 7:30am–4pm, weekends 9am–4pm; 08 8339 4323) is a domestic facility: truckloads of general waste, concrete and green organics are not accepted and there are no commercial loads. Its free community chemical and paint drop-off takes paints, oils, batteries, gas bottles and household chemicals. Prices shown are the July 2025 schedule, the latest published; prices include GST.

SRWRA (112 Bakewell Drive, Seaford Heights; Mon–Fri 6:30am–5pm, Sat 8am–noon; 08 8327 0304) is the southern councils' landfill and transfer station. The figures above are its published 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025 list, the latest available as a document at the time of writing; expect the 2026-27 rates to be higher and confirm by phone for a commercial load.
Northern Adelaide and Wingfield
The Northern Adelaide Waste Management Authority runs resource recovery centres at Pooraka and Edinburgh North for the northern councils (8259 2100); current pricing is published on its website. The privately run Adelaide Waste & Recycling Centre at 412 Hanson Road North, Wingfield, publishes its fees online; its site was unavailable when this page was compiled.
Where the price comes from
The South Australian solid waste levy is charged per tonne to landfill operators and set annually by the SA EPA; check epa.sa.gov.au for the current metropolitan rate. GST is added to the whole gate fee, and the Adelaide Hills Recycling Centre quotes its commercial rates before GST, so add 10% to compare with the others.
For a business in Adelaide: tip runs versus a scheduled bin
Gate fees are for occasional loads. Once someone is driving to the tip every week, a scheduled bin is almost always cheaper: the collector's per-lift price already contains the state levy, and it removes the vehicle, the fuel and the hour of someone's time each trip. Bundle Waste's published benchmarks are Melbourne's (a weekly-collected 1100L general-waste bin is $110–245 a month there in 2026); for Adelaide we benchmark quotes on request against the same provider network. Ways to pay less at the gate
- Sort before you go. Cardboard, scrap metal, e-waste and batteries are free at most facilities; hidden recyclables inside a mixed load are charged at the general rate.
- Know the minimum charge. Small loads are billed at the minimum regardless of weight; combine half-loads.
- Use the weighbridge for dense waste. Soil, concrete and timber are usually cheaper by the tonne than by trailer size, and clean concrete or brick has its own low rate at most gates.
- Green waste separately. Typically 40–60% cheaper than general waste at the same facility.
- Resident vouchers where your council issues them; they never apply to commercial loads.
