Bundle Waste
Compare skip hire and regular collection against the waste your site actually produces. A one-off clear-out and a continuing shop operation need different service briefs. There is no reliable universal break-even volume or Melbourne price without current, comparable quotes.
Match the service to the job

Compare the same period and inclusions
For a project quote, add delivery, collection, disposal, hire extensions and any quoted excess weight or material charges. For an ongoing quote, add scheduled collections, bin rental, minimum commitments and other stated charges for the same period. Record whether GST is included. Do not compare a single skip price with a monthly bin invoice.
Volume alone is insufficient: a large container of light packaging is a different load from dense rubble. Ask the supplier to state its load and weight limits, accepted contents and loading instructions. Keep uncertain or potentially hazardous items out until the provider confirms a suitable route.
Check access and placement
- Give the supplier photographs, access dimensions and the proposed container position.
- Confirm delivery vehicle requirements, ground conditions and clearance with the supplier.
- Ask the relevant council about any approval needed for placement on its road or other public land.
- Keep emergency access and pedestrian routes clear; agree who manages unauthorised dumping.
