What waste does a Melbourne commercial essential oil distillery generate?

Assess an essential-oil distillery's spent plant material, distillation liquids and packaging separately. A botanical origin does not establish that a composter accepts the residue.

What to check

1. Record plant species, process additives and remaining oil or moisture when requesting acceptance.
2. Keep batch records so a rejected or contaminated batch is not mixed with otherwise acceptable material.
3. For distillation and cleaning liquids, obtain the relevant water retailer's required trade-waste consent or authorisation before any sewer discharge. Alternatively, arrange off-site collection to an authorised receiver with an appropriately qualified waste contractor; the contractor cannot authorise discharge into your site's sewer. 4. Agree storage and collection around production runs; compare actual container fill rather than a generic monthly budget.
