Pallet Collection in Perth: Free Pickup From 20 Pallets, Fees Under That, and Who Takes What

Published conditions from Perth pallet recyclers, the WA waste levy that applies to anything landfilled, and the bins beside the pallets where the real money goes.

Perth has the lowest free-collection threshold of any capital: Palletwest collects undamaged standard pallets free from 20 units, and Pallet Pals collects standard and Euro pallets free after a photo check. Under 20 pallets a pickup fee may apply, CHEP and Loscam pallets are refused, and anything landfilled carries Western Australia's waste levy of $90 a tonne in 2026-27.

Euro pallets are easier to place in Perth than in most cities because two collectors name them explicitly. Pooled pallets are refused everywhere; use the CHEP and Loscam guide to transfer or return them.

What dumping pallets costs in Western Australia

The WA Government's published levy schedule lists $88 a tonne for 2025-26 and $90 a tonne for 2026-27, after the rate was lifted to $85 on 1 July 2024, its first increase since 2018. At roughly 30 kilograms a pallet, that is about $2.70 a pallet in levy before the facility's gate fee and transport. Palleco's paid removal is "significantly cheaper than renting a skip bin or disposing of pallets in a landfill" for the same reason as everywhere else: mulched timber pays no levy.

Preparing a Perth collection

  • Text or email photos first; Pallet Pals and Palletwest both approve from photos.
  • Stack standard, Euro and non-standard pallets separately, and keep pooled pallets out.
  • Allow a week: Palletwest quotes five to seven working days from confirmation.
  • Under 20 pallets, ask Palletwest whether a truck is already in your area before accepting a fee.

If the pallet stack shares a dock with baled cardboard, the cardboard bale prices guide shows what that stream is worth, and the timber versus plastic pallet comparison covers the plastic pallets no mulcher will take.

Where the money actually leaks: the bins next to the pallet stack

Pallet collection is the one waste stream most Perth businesses get for free, so it is rarely where the savings are. The general waste bin, the cardboard bin and the front-lift bulk bin beside the pallet stack are where the bill grows: bin rental, fuel levies, contamination charges and annual increases that nobody re-tenders. Frequently asked questions

Is pallet collection free in Perth?+
Yes for undamaged standard pallets in quantities over 20 at Palletwest, and for standard, Euro and other pallets that pass Pallet Pals' photo check. Palleco's published policy is complimentary pickup for standard 1,165 by 1,165 pallets. Under 20 pallets Palletwest says a pickup fee may apply, though it sometimes collects free when a truck is already nearby.
Who collects Euro pallets in Perth?+
Pallet Pals lists Euro pallets among the types it collects free, and West Aussie Pallets names Euro 1,200 by 800 pallets specifically. Palletwest says many non-standard sizes also qualify for free collection. Send photos first so the size is confirmed before the truck is booked.
What is the WA waste levy in 2026-27?+
$90 a tonne, up from $88 in 2025-26 and $85 in 2024-25 according to the WA Government's waste levy rate schedule. That is roughly $2.70 a pallet in levy on top of the gate fee for any pallet that ends up in landfill instead of a recycler's truck.
Do Perth recyclers take CHEP or Loscam pallets?+
No. Palletwest states that CHEP or Loscam branded pallets cannot be removed. Pooled pallets must be transferred to your customer's account or returned to a depot; otherwise daily hire continues and a lost pallet costs about $55 for CHEP or $39.99 for Loscam.
How long does a pallet collection take to arrange in Perth?+
Palletwest publishes a lead time of five to seven working days from confirmation. Pallet Pals and Palleco arrange by appointment after photos. Marketplace taskers on Airtasker can be quicker for small lots but charge per job.
Does Bundle Waste collect pallets in Perth?+
No. Bundle Waste is a Melbourne-based commercial waste cost broker working with businesses Australia-wide. We point you to the collectors above, then audit the general waste, recycling and bulk bin contracts next to your pallets free, negotiate them, and are paid only from the savings we find.
