Bundle Waste
The Frankston Regional Recycling and Recovery Centre (FRRRC) charges $162 per cubic metre of hard waste for Frankston City residents and $191 for non-residents, $48–50 per cubic metre for green waste, $267 for soil and $140 for clean concrete and bricks, on the most recent published price list (2025-26). Trucks under 4.5 tonnes pay $369 per tonne. It is open 8am–4pm every day except Good Friday and Christmas Day, is not a landfill, and does not accept food, liquid or hazardous waste.

Free recyclables (households only)
Paint, e-waste, lead and alkaline batteries, televisions and computers, scrap metal, light globes, X-rays, 4.5–9 kg gas bottles, commingled recyclables, and cardboard and paper. The household-only condition matters for businesses: a trade quantity of e-waste or paint is not covered.
How a Melbourne tip fee is built
Every general-waste gate fee in metropolitan Melbourne has three layers. The Victorian landfill levy is $177.19 per tonne from 1 July 2026 (EPA Victoria), up from $169.79 the year before. GST is added on top of the whole fee. The rest is the operator's cost of handling, transport to landfill and margin, which is why the same cubic metre is priced differently from one facility to the next, and why the resident and non-resident rates on the list above differ for identical material. Recyclable streams (cardboard, scrap metal, e-waste, batteries) carry no levy, which is why they are free or cheap at almost every gate.
When a business should stop tipping and get a bin
Tip runs make sense for one-off clean-outs. They stop making sense once someone is driving to the gate every week. Compare the whole trip, not the gate fee. An 1100L bin collected weekly holds about 4.4 m³ a month and is collected from your door, with the disposal component already inside the price. A tip run costs the published rate above — $162 per cubic metre for a Frankston City resident, $191 for a non-resident — plus fuel, the vehicle and an hour of someone's time on every trip, none of which appears on the receipt. Ways to pay less at the gate
- Sort before you go. Cardboard, scrap metal, e-waste and batteries are free at most metro facilities. Hidden recyclables inside a mixed load are charged at the general rate.
- Know the minimum charge. Small loads are billed at the minimum regardless of weight; combining two half-loads into one trip usually saves the second minimum.
- Weight beats volume for dense waste. Where a facility offers per-tonne pricing on a weighbridge, soil, concrete and timber are usually cheaper by weight than by trailer size.
- Check for resident vouchers. Some councils issue free-disposal vouchers with the rates notice. They do not apply to commercial loads, but they do apply to the owner's own household waste — check whether your council issues them and on what conditions.
- Keep green waste separate. On this facility's own list, green waste is $48 per cubic metre for a resident against $162 for hard waste — roughly a third of the price for the same volume. Mixing it into a hard waste load removes that difference entirely.
