When does the NSW FOGO business mandate start?+
The first tier applies from 1 July 2026 to relevant premises with the largest weekly residual-waste bin capacity, with further tiers on 1 July 2028 and 1 July 2030. The exact litre thresholds are on the NSW EPA FOGO mandates page and in each guide here.
Does the mandate apply to my business?+
It applies to premises that handle food and meet the capacity threshold for the current tier, measured on total weekly general-waste bin capacity rather than the waste you actually produce. The NSW EPA tier calculator and our cost and tier checker both work this out from your bin setup.
What does a food organics bin cost?+
Providers price food organics collection per bin per lift, and the bin is usually smaller than a general-waste bin. The Sydney and regional guides list the published price points we found and show an indicative weekly band with the method stated.
Can a broker help with FOGO compliance?+

What happens if a business does not comply?+
